Eunmi Conacher

Rainy Day In Port Hardy

I describe myself as a contemporary impressionist and expressionist artist. My desire is to create paintings which bring energy to the canvas. My use of color, form, and texture is intuitive. My hope is that the viewers connect emotionally with the painting in their own way. The result I strive for is a painting from the heart.

Vancouver Island artist Eunmi Conacher was born in 1960 in South Korea, where her artistic journey culminated with a Batchelor of Fine Arts Degree from Hong-Ik University in Seoul and majoring in ceramics and fine arts education. Following her passion, in the 1980’s, a time when it was virtually unheard of a young South Korean woman to do so, Eunmi embarked on studying visual arts abroad at the University of Sidney, Australia. Her life would ultimately bring her to Whistler in 1996 where her Canadian journey commenced. This is where she met her husband and where the couple operated a small business in the years that followed. In 2004 the couple moved to Vancouver Island and Nanaimo where Eunmi focused all her attention on her art and became an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists in 2008 and was juried into the organizations signature status (Associate Member of Federation of Canadian Artists, AFCA ) in 2015. She is also an elected member of Society of Canadian Artists. Eunmi currently resides in Sooke, BC and works primarily in oils and acrylic.
